Meet Dr. Eduardo Lopez
Eduardo “Eddie” Lopez was raised in Manning, South Carolina. He attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, where he studied Biology. He completed his dental education at the Medical University of South Carolina, receiving his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD). He went on to complete a general practice residency program at the Hampton VA Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia.
After completion of his residency, Dr. Lopez decided to stay in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia to practice dentistry. Dr. Lopez is a member of the Virginia Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association and the Peninsula Dental Society. Dr. Lopez proudly pursues continued dental education and has received additional training with the BAARD Institute, the Pankey Institute and Spear Education.
Dr. Lopez lives in Yorktown with his wife, Katherine, their two cats, Sushi and Estrella, and their dog, Murphy. In his spare time, Dr. Lopez enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, watching sports and movies, and visiting museums. Dr. Lopez is proud to call York River Dental his home and makes it his goal to provide dental excellence to the communities of the peninsula.

Shalie Houseknecht
Shalie Houseknecht, BSDH, RDH is a registered dental hygienist. A Hampton Roads native, Shalie attended her elementary through high school years in Hampton, VA Following high school, Shalie earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University.
Shalie has been a dental hygienist for 28 years. During her years as a hygienist, Shalie has acquired great skills in communicating with patients about their oral health needs as well as effective clinical skills to help patients achieve their goals of good dental health.
Outside of the office, you can find Shalie spending time with her husband and children, camping, going to the beach, and walking their family dog.

Tara Neill
Tara grew up in York County. She worked for her father, Dr. K.E. Neill Jr as his dental assistant until she moved to Pensacola, FL, where she earned her Dental Hygiene degree. She returned to VA in 1995 to continue working for her dad and has been a fixture at that office until it’s closing in June 2025. Tara now lives in Newport News with her husband Bruce, where they enjoy their 6 grandkids. They love leading an active lifestyle by paddleboarding, biking and enjoying life on the river.

Robert Brown
Robert (“Robby”) grew up in the Bay Area in California and completed high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the age of 18, he joined the US Navy, where he had the opportunity to travel the world, from Naples, Italy to Iwakuni, Japan. He completed his Bachelor of Applied Science and dental hygiene training at St. Petersburg College in 2007. After 22 years of active and reserve military service, Robby, along with his wife and two kick, have settled in Virginia Beach Robby is motivated and personable, with a record of leadership and clinical experience. In his off time, he likes to play tennis and enjoy the outdoors with his family and his dog, Brody His mission is to maintain your dental health through education and optimal dental care.
